SimpleAccess App for Access Users - Mobile Credential Access
An access user provides the system administrator their email address linked to an account that can be read on their mobile device. After the system administrator has added the access user to the SimpleAccess Admin software, the access user receives an email invitation to the address provided to the administrator. This email should be viewed on the access user's mobile phone to proceed with setup. This email will contain:
(1) a link to the SimpleAccess app to download, and
(2) a link to enroll their mobile device with the SimpleAccess system.
Clicking on the link within the email will direct the user to download the app from either the iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
Once downloaded, the user can open the SimpleAccess App. The user is asked to allow permissions to both Bluetooth and Remote Notifications. Both should be accepted to continue.
NOTE: Because the mobile credential system utilizes Bluetooth, Bluetooth must be enabled on the device for mobile access to work at access points. Remote Notifications also need to be allowed to manage credentials.
Access Point Usage
Once present at a SimpleAccess SR3 Reader, ensure your mobile device's SimpleAccess App is open and Bluetooth is "ON" and activated. Present your mobile phone to the reader. The reader's blue circle will begin to spin, and will beep, and will flash green if granted entry to the access point.
FAQ's
Which devices are supported?
Most Apple devices running iOS 11.0 or higher, and Android devices running Android v6.0 (Marshmallow) or higher are supported, as long as it supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) version 4.0 Peripheral Mode.
I purchased a new mobile device/phone, will the mobile credential still work?
Security protocols require mobile credentials are only good for the life of the original mobile device. Once a new device is purchased, new credentials are required, even if the phone number has not changed.
How long should I hold my mobile device at the reader?
In general, the device should be presented to the reader until a beep is heard, confirming the mobile device's bluetooth credential has been transmitted to the access reader. Typically, this is within a second, although in some situations this may take several seconds. A user will begin to see the reader's blue circle 'spin' when it is reading the mobile credential.
Can I share the original administrator email that installs the mobile credential to other access users (in my family, group, building)?
Security protocols require mobile credentials are only good for installation on one device. If additional access privileges are required for other users, please contact your system administrator.
Should I accept app updates to the SimpleAccess mobile app from the Google or Apple App Store?
Yes. iOS and Android frequently update their device software versions and this requires App developers to make updates as well. Keeping your SimpleAccess Mobile App up to date with the latest version is the best way to ensure hassle-free usage.
The door did not open what should I do?
The most common issues:
a) the SimpleAccess Mobile App is not open
b) Bluetooth is not enabled.
c) The mobile device was not presented to the reader and held for several seconds.
d) An old mobile app or device software version is being used
Additional protocols if verifying above and mobile device access does not work:
- Close the SimpleAccess mobile app and turn 'OFF' Bluetooth on the device. Turn the device's Bluetooth back 'ON', and re-open the SimpleAccess Mobile App.
- Closing all App's and re-powering the mobile device is an additional best practice (cycling it on and off)
-
Ensure there is a blue circle on the reader. If the reader is showing an amber yellow or white, please contact your system administrator.
If still experiencing issues, please contact your system administrator. On rare occassions, deleting the SimpleAccess app and re-issuing the mobile credential may be required.
