Common Doors can be designated in order to duplicate access given on another door to the common door.
This function is used in buildings where interior doors/units are protected by a common main entry. This function will set the exterior entry as common to specified doors (or all doors) on the interior and will duplicate any user added to a single interior door on the exterior common door.
Other common doors such as pools and gyms can also be designated as common doors.
Similar to Door Groups, where a group of locks can allow you to assign access to a user and to all locks within a group with just a few clicks. A common door will allow you to associate one door with other 'common' doors at the same location.
For example, if a building has 10 locks on interior units and one exterior front door, the front door can be made common to all the locks on that Location. This way, when any Access User is added to an interior door, the user will be duplicated on the Front Door (the Common Door).
This system operates on a Parent/Child model of communication where one device has unidirectional control over one or more other devices. Please see the screenshot below as a visual.
This graphic is indicating that adding a PIN code to a parent door will duplicate to the common door (child door). But, adding a PIN Code to a child code WILL NOT duplicate to a parent door.
How to add common door functionality:
Access the Common Door tab by selecting Devices, then the Common Doors tab. Next, you'll select "Add Common Door."
After clicking "Add Common Door" you will see a pop up with the following options.
Common Door: Select a lock in your account to designate as a common door.
Common To: Make the previously selected lock Common to an entire location or a specific door.
Access Schedule: Apply an Access Schedule to the Common Door.
Guest Access Time Overrides: Override the current Guest Access Start and End Times.
Add Common Door access for existing access users/guests: Allow the Common Door Access you create to apply to pre-existing access users and guests.
Finally, click CREATE.
In the Common Door field, you should select a lock in your account to designate as a common door. Next, you'll make the previously selected lock common to either an entire location or a specific door. You'll then have the option to apply an access schedule to the common door, override the current guest access start and end times, and allow the common door access you created to apply to pre-existing access users and access guests. Finally, click create to save.
