24 Volt Conversion Steps
Each ACS Panel and system, unless specified in pre-order configuration; by default comes setup for 12volt power.
In order to convert to 24 volt power, certain steps should be taken to ensure proper and safe conversion. Note that a LP1501 controller (1 door and 3 door kits) cannot be powered by or converted to 24 volts, so if changing a LP1501 kit’s voltage to 24 volts, the LP1501 needs to be powered over ethernet.
On a LP1502/4502 and expansion panels (MR52) the reader power select jumpers need to be switched to “12V.” this ensures that the reader port power positions only supply 12 volts as most readers are rated for 12 volts and not 24 volts.
LP1502:
Change Power Supply Voltage
After adjusting the reader power ports; next, the power supply voltage setting needs to be changed from 12V to 24V.
Now each zone on the power supply and D8 power distributor will output 24 volts. A 24 volt supply of power is now needed from the backup battery of the system.
